Pet’s Name:

Theodore Dan Colarco

1. What’s your favorite nickname for them?

A: Ted, Teddy, Mr. Wigglebutt

2. What made you choose them / How’d you get them?

A: I had attended an adoption event one weekend and fell in love with a dog named Dan. I was getting ready to go out of town that week, so I decided it wasn’t the right week for me to adopt. I went to an adoption event the following weekend, expecting to adopt Dan, but at the last minute, he was pulled from the event. I decided to still go in and look to see if I had a connection with any of the dogs. Ted and I locked eyes, and it was love at first sight. I adopted him at 12 weeks old and 13 pounds. Now he’s almost 8 years old and 70 pounds! It was meant to be!

3. What’s the one thing that always makes them happy?

A: Treats, treats, treats, and more treats. He especially likes visiting Caring Hands when we walk in the neighborhood. We stop by for what we call “happy visits.” That’s when we just pop in to get on the scale and grab a few treats from the front desk staff.

4. What’s their most endearing/silliest habit?

A: He greets me at the door with a toy every time I come home, no matter how long I’ve been away, and wiggles his butt uncontrollably. It’s so goofy and sweet.

5. If they had a superpower, what would it be?

A: I think he can read minds. He’s actually a very empathetic dog. He knows how to act depending on the environment. He’s had small children run up behind him and hug him without flinching. He is 70 pounds but loves to play gently with his 7-pound cat sister. And when he lived with my 100-year-old grandma for a few months, he would stand in certain spots as she slowly walked by to prevent her from falling.

6. Why do you and your pet love Caring Hands Animal Hospital?

A: We’ve gone to Caring Hands since Ted’s first veterinarian appointment. The staff have always been kind and caring to both of us. Last year, Ted had a major medical issue that required several surgeries and daily bandage changes. Everyone at Caring Hands rallied around him (and me) to help make this happen and get Ted back on the road to health. Through that process, Caring Hands – especially Dr. Sites and Selena Fernandez – became a second family to us, and we’re so grateful for that!
