Lilly – Vet Assistant

1. How long have you been a part of the Caring Hands team?   

A: I began working as a vet assistant with Caring Hands last summer. I am a sophomore at Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!), so I come back to work with the team throughout school breaks.

2. Do you have any pets? Tell us a little about your favorite furry (feathered, or scaled) friends?  

A: I have a 10-year-old English yellow lab named Olive. My family adopted her when I was in elementary school and she has been a lifelong patient at Caring Hands. Olive loves her emotional support soccer ball, eating mysterious objects off the sidewalk, and learning new tricks.

3. What’s something that always makes you happy?  

A: During the school year, I absolutely love living in Blacksburg, Virginia! I like to keep myself busy through involvement with campus organizations like the Pre-Vet Medical Association, Alpha Phi Omega (a co-ed service fraternity), and assisting with research. In my free time, my friends and I love going on hikes, thrifting, exploring downtown Blacksburg, and making ice cream cereal at the dining halls!

4. What’s something about you that most people don’t know?  

A: I love running and completed my first marathon at 16. The Boston Marathon and an Iron Man (marathon, 2.4 mile swim, & 112 mile bike ride) are next up on my bucket list!

5. If you had a superpower, what would it be?   

A: I think that a perfect memory would be a very underrated superpower. You could relive your favorite moments whenever you want and never have to study for tests!

6. Why do you love working at Caring Hands Animal Hospital? 

A: I’ve wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as I can remember; helping animals and those who love them is my greatest passion! As I prepare to apply for vet school, I love learning clinical skills that will help me as I move forward in my career. I also specifically love working in general practice because of the relationships I get to form with patients and clients as they come back year after year!
