Pet’s Name:
Chewie
1. What’s your favorite nickname for them?
A: Technically, Chewie IS a nickname because his real name is Chewbacca. But I call him Choo Choo or Chew Bear a lot, too!
2. What made you choose them / How’d you get them?
A: I have loved and owned Australian Shepherds for many years. Chewie and his sister Cassie are my second generation of Australian Shepherds. I love that Aussies are SO smart and silly and loving. I chose Chewie in particular for a silly reason – I wanted a red tri-colored Aussie so I could name him Chewbacca (he DOES look a bit like a Wookie!)
3. What’s the one thing that always makes them happy?
A: Only one? I mean…he’s the happiest guy I know! He loves attention and cuddles from his family and friends (and everyone is a friend, even if he hasn’t met them yet).
4. What’s their most endearing/silliest habit?
A: He’s got an amazing vertical jump! He hops like a kangaroo and has developed quite a reputation in the neighborhood. People I don’t even know will ask me to make him jump for them. He’s always happy to oblige! When I get home from work and let him out in the backyard, he hop-zooms back and forth several times before he calms down.
5. If they had a superpower, what would it be?
A: This is going to sound cheesy, but he’d rid the world of curmudgeons. You can’t help but smile when he engages with you!
6. Why do you and your pet love Caring Hands Animal Hospital?
A: SO many things! We have been coming to Caring Hands since we moved to Arlington in 2010 with our first generation of dogs. The techs and vets have all been so wonderful with all of our dogs (including my last one who was quite the reactive pill sometimes!). We’ve always received great care and have been referred to specialists a couple times when my dogs have presented with some extra “special” challenges (Chewie’s famous for eating a beer can…sigh). The doctors have gone above and beyond to be available to answer questions, follow up regularly, and we have NEVER felt rushed during our visits. I always feel heard when I’m there with my dogs.
