Safe and Comfortable Pet Surgery by Experts
Getting Your Pet Ready for Surgery
Before, during, and after every surgery, a Licensed Veterinary Technician will keep a close eye on your pet's important signs, like their heart rate, breathing, oxygen, carbon dioxide, blood pressure, and temperature. We also give pain medicine before and after all surgeries. Making sure your pet is comfortable is the most important thing to us.
If your pet ever needs a special treatment that we don't offer here, we'll gladly help you find a trusted specialist who can provide the care they need.
Protocols to Follow Before Surgery
- Please don't give your pet any food after 10:00 PM the night before their surgery. A little bit of water is fine.
- Bring your pet to the hospital between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM on the day of surgery.
- Once you arrive, you'll need to read and sign a Consent Form and Treatment Plan for their treatment. Please give yourself enough time to look over these papers and ask us any questions you might have. After the surgery is done, the vet or a technician will let you know how it went and set up a time for you to take your pet home.
- For most common surgeries, your pet will be able to go home on the same day.
- When you come to pick up your pet, we'll go over how to care for them at home and explain any medicines they need to take.
No matter what kind of surgery your pet needs, the team at Caring Hands Animal Hospital will always treat you and your pet with kindness and care.
We also have special deals for spaying and neutering -- more information here.
Laser Surgery
- Less Pain: The laser helps to seal off the ends of nerves as it makes the cut, which means your pet may feel less pain afterward.
- Less Bleeding: During the surgery, the laser helps to close up small blood vessels, leading to less bleeding.
- Less Swelling: Because the laser beam makes the cut without actually touching or pressing on the tissues, there is usually less swelling after the surgery.
