Expert Surgical Care for Your Pet’s Health

Caring Hands Animal Hospital has a surgical suite at all nine locations for routine and critical procedures of your fur babies. The services can be scheduled Monday through Friday with your preferred veterinarian at our hospital.

Preparing for Surgery

To ensure your pet is fit for surgery, a Licensed Veterinary Technician monitors all vital signs. Once they are admitted, monitoring equipment is used to measure heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen levels, CO2 levels, blood pressure, and temperature. To make the procedure comfortable for your fur baby, pain medication is given before and after all surgical procedures. In case a surgery requires a specialized service that is unavailable at our hospital, we will refer you to appropriate specialists.

Protocols to Follow Before Surgery

  • no food after 10 pm the night before surgery. Only a little water can be consumed.
  • It is recommended to admit your pet between 7:30-8:00 am, and review and sign the Consent Form and Treatment Plan.
  • Take your time to go through the forms and ask us any questions you have regarding the surgery procedures. The doctor will update you after surgery and confirm a discharge time.
  • In most cases, patients undergoing routine surgeries are discharged on the day of the procedure.

Laser Surgery

  • Reduced Pain: the surgical laser seals nerve endings as it cuts
  • Reduced Bleeding: the laser cauterizes small blood vessels during surgery
  • Less Swelling: no physical contact and no crushing of tissues, cuts are made by the invisible laser beam
