Pet of the Week - Lokie Ballentine-01

Loki Ballentine – Domestic Shorthair

How did you obtain your pet?

We adopted him from Loudoun County Animal Shelter.

How old is your pet?

…almost 5 months old.

What is your pet’s favorite pastime?

He loves to roughhouse with his older “brother”, McCoy (also adopted from the animal shelter). When we brought Loki home, McCoy was already well-known for being extremely playful. What struck us about Loki when we met him at the shelter was his comparable playfulness. It took the two of them about 7 seconds to start chasing and tackling each other around the house.

What is your pet’s favorite toy?

It’s this long, crinkly, gray mouse-looking thing. When Loki gets a hold of it, he walks around with it hanging in his mouth and fusses at anyone who comes near him; he’s very possessive of his favorite toys.

What is your favorite thing about your pet?

He’s such a wonderful blend of playfulness and affection. We’ve got a lap cat who will endlessly chase the laser pointer and then roll on his back for tummy rubs!

If your pet had a super power, what would it be?

Silliness… and maybe super snuggles.

Why does your pet love Caring Hands Animal Hospital?

He loves how happy everyone is to see him when he arrives. He does not care for car rides at all. Loki also came into our home because we lost a young kitten to chronic seizures. We were heartbroken, but knew that McCoy needed a playmate and were fortunate enough to find a perfect one in Loki. Caring Hands saw the kitten with seizures from the day we got her and knew how sad we were, so they’ve been as thrilled as we are to see how happy and healthy Loki is.
