Alissa Trang

DVM

Dr. Trang, associate veterinarian, graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She grew up in Fairfax, VA and received her bachelor’s degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences from Virginia Tech. Her current interests are preventative medicine and internal medicine. In her free time, she enjoys fishing, spending time with family and friends, cooking/eating, and just being outdoors. Dr. Trang and her husband have three dogs (Daks, Penny, and Zoja), one cat (Finn), and even a tree frog (Winston)

Carole Richards

DVM

Carole Richards, DVM Co-Owner of Caring Hands Animal Hospital of Ashburn

Dr. Richards, Co-Owner, is a graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in Ithaca, New York.  Originally from Illinois, she has a degree in Biology from Eureka College, the Alma Mater of President Ronald Reagan.  Dr. Richards has been practicing in the Northern Virginia area since graduation from veterinary school and has interests in soft tissue surgery, dentistry and shelter medicine.  She is active in the animal care community, serving as medical director for a non-profit in West Virginia.  In her free time, Dr. Richards and her husband enjoy running.  They share their home with 1 dog (Roofus) and 3 cats (Bump, Wishbone, and Pickles).

Christina Piola Rouse

DVM

Christina Piola Rouse, DVM, Medical Director of Caring Hands Animal Hospital of Ashburn

Dr. Piola Rouse, Medical Director, graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 and has been treating the pets of Northern Virginia ever since.  She grew up in Connecticut and received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Fairfield University before heading south to pursue her veterinary career.  Her current interests include care of senior pets, preventative medicine, and internal medicine.  Dr. Rouse and her husband, Devin, spend most of their time chasing after their daughter, Morgan; they also share their home with two dogs, Mozart and Summer, and two cats, Reeses and Ripken.  In her spare time, Dr. Rouse enjoys reading, cooking, music, and cheering on the Hokies.

John Bruzzese

DVM

Dr. Bruzzese, associate veterinarian, is a 1990 graduate of the VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.  After practicing in New York for two years, Dr. Bruzzese returned to his native Washington, DC to continue private practice in Northern Virginia through 1996.  Following his passion for animal welfare, he served as Medical Director for the better part of the next decade for two of the most prominent and progressive no-kill humane organizations, The Washington Animal Rescue League & Medical Center and the Richmond SPCA.  He returned to private practice in 2006 joining the Caring Hands family, dividing his time between the Arlington and Bristow branches while building this new location.  His interests include internal medicine, preventative medicine and infectious disease.  He and his wife Cindy are kept on their toes by their two toddler sons, Jack and Nick, as well as their dog Willie and Peg, their Amazon parrot.

Lindsay Kraut

DVM

Dr. Kraut, associate veterinarian, was born and raised in Fairfax, VA. She graduated from the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Her medical interests include emergency and surgery. She loves to watch movies, and although she doesn’t own one, she loves everything about French Bulldogs. She shares her home with two cats, Ryu and Juno. She is a self-proclaimed “crazy cat lady,” and loves anything to do with cats. She also loves to ice skate. She skated for about 5 years, and she doesn’t get to the rink too often anymore, but still loves the sport, and goes when she can.
