Elizabeth Ferguson Sweiter, DVM – CHAH Ashburn
Where are you originally from?
Baltimore, MD
What are your favorite hobbies/activities?
I enjoy wine and beer tasting and I have recently gotten my way back into physical fitness – I am hoping to rediscover some new hobbies when the world approaches a more normal state!
Name a few favorite books/music/movies:
I love all things Harry Potter and I have rediscovered my appreciation for Disney movies thanks to having two young children, Disney+, and a pandemic. I really love 90’s music – I saw Hootie and the Blowfish and Barenaked Ladies in concert a few years ago, and I saw the Spice Girls on their “reunion tour” a while back….
Favorite sports teams or icons:
I’m not a sports fanatic, but I do support the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens!
If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?
I just need a multipurpose crystal ball… see into my future… diagnose my patients… win the lottery…
What special skills do you have?
In veterinary medicine? I have a passion for dentistry. I also really value what we, as a profession, can offer in terms of end of life care – in the past 5 years I have said goodbye to 2 dogs (littermates – I had them from 8 weeks until 14 and 15 years) and 1 cat, and I am left with one senior cat. I have had clients refer their friends and family to me for end-of-life care – this may seem wacky, but I think that this may be one of the best complements in this profession.
Outside of veterinary medicine? I have a few decent cookie recipes. Hopefully more to come post-pandemic.
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Shy. Sarcastic. Compassionate.
Why do you love working at Caring Hands?
The people – we have a fantastic team AND a fantastic client base!
What’s something about you that most people don’t know?
I have owned sugar gliders as pets – they are fascinating creatures but require so much specialized care and socialization that they really do not make great pets (in my opinion). Hedgehogs, on the other hand…
