Rudie Alley – Italian Greyhound
How did you obtain your pet?
We adopted Rudie via Mid-Atlantic Italian Greyhound Rescue 4 years ago. Ended up driving over 500 miles in a single day to pick her up and bring her home (and would have driven 1000 :)).
How old is your pet?
Rudie will be *17* on August 1st!
What is your pet’s favorite pastime?
Rudie loves car rides, especially at night. She rides in a special booster seat/basket so she can see out the window.
What is your pet’s favorite toy?
Rudie’s never really been into dog toys, but her best friend is a stuffed hedgehog and she won’t sleep without it.
What is your favorite thing about your pet?
Rudie is an 8-pound, mostly blind and deaf, nearly bald and toothless, three-legged cat in a dog body. She’s demanding and stubborn and likes to show “affection” by wiping her eye snot on you. I am madly in love with her.
If your pet had a superpower, what would it be?
My personal vote is for immortality, but I think Rudie would choose the ability to make people see how much better their lives could be if they were to adopt a “perfectly imperfect” senior dog like herself. If she’d ended up in a shelter instead of a rescue organization 4 years ago, at 13 and already missing a leg, Rudie would almost certainly have been euthanized because she wasn’t considered “adoptable.” And we would have missed out on the greatest dog in the history of dogs.
Why does your pet love Caring Hands Animal Hospital?
Rudie loves Caring Hands because they spoil her rotten and treat her like the queen that she is. And I love Caring Hands because I can say without hesitation that Dr. Robinson and the entire Caring Hands staff love her just as much as I do – that means the absolute world to me.
