Slinky & Moe McDonnell – Dachshund
How did you obtain your pet?
Both Slinky and Moe are rescues! We adopted Slinky from Dachshund Rescue of North America. Moe was adopted from Lost Dog & Cat Rescue in Fairfax.
How old is your pet?
Slinky is 14 years old. Moe is 6 years old.
What is your pet’s favorite pastime?
They are so different! Slinky is very laid back and really enjoys sunbathing! He loves to sit on the deck, on his outdoor pillow, soaking up the outdoors while barking at dogs three blocks away. Moe is far more playful and is always into some kind of mischief. He loves to play with his chew toys (he can destroy just about anything in a matter of seconds!). His favorite playtime is to throw his Nylabones around primarily off of the sofa, and stare down at them…then pounces on them!
What is your pet’s favorite toy?
Moe loves his Nylabones – he has a lot of them! Slinky doesn’t really have a favorite, but will chew on them occasionally.
What is your favorite thing about your pet?
Slinky & Moe are decidedly different in temperament. But they are totally devoted to each other and don’t like to be separated from one another. Slinky is a love bug and believe it or not – along with lots of belly rubs, he loves to have you blow raspberries on his belly, too! Moe is incredibly agile and playful all of the time but we love it when he rolls over on his back and just lays there, all 4 paws up in the air with his tail wagging non-stop! It is as if he saying “just look at how cute I am”!
If your pet had a super power, what would it be?
Moe’s superpower could be like the Six Million Dollar man because he runs fast and leaps over the tallest object in a single bound after spotting his target from 100 yards. Very un-dachshund like. Slinky’s superpower could be the ability to use hyper induction, meaning he can override the will power of others to get what he wants. All Slinky has to do is look at you and you instantly give him snacks.
Why does your pet love Caring Hands Animal Hospital?
We have been coming to Caring Hands since we first moved to the area about 7 years ago. They love the care and attention they receive from everyone – from all the wonderful front desk personnel – to the technicians (they love, love, love Holly!!) and of course, the caring vets! While they get nervous and like any other dog don’t want to “see the doc”, they know they are always going to be treated well and taken care of no matter what! Plus they always seem to meet other patients in the waiting room! The snacks you provide help a lot, too!!
