Ensuring Safety and Comfort for Your Best Friend
At Caring Hands Animal Hospital, our hospital is equipped with a dedicated surgical suite, allowing us to perform both routine and urgent procedures right here in Tenleytown. You can schedule your pet's surgery with your preferred veterinarian from Monday to Friday, ensuring they are cared for by the team they already know and trust.
Our Preparations & Care
We prioritize your pet’s safety from the moment they arrive. Our Licensed Veterinary Technicians provide constant, hands-on monitoring of all vital signs throughout the procedure. Using advanced equipment, we track:
- Heart and respiratory rates
- Blood pressure
- CO2 levels
- Body temperature
To ensure a smooth and comfortable recovery, we administer pain medication before and after every surgical procedure. If your pet requires a highly specialized service that is unavailable at our hospital, we will provide you with referrals to trusted, certified specialists to ensure they receive the best possible care.
Surgical Protocols
For your pet's well-being and a successful procedure, please adhere to these guidelines:
- Fasting: Do not feed your pet after 10:00 PM the night prior to surgery. Water in small quantities is acceptable.
- Admission: Please admit your pet between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM to review and sign the Consent Form and Treatment Plan. We recommend allocating enough time to read these carefully and discuss them with our team.
- Updates: Our surgical team will provide a post-operative update and schedule a specific discharge time with you.
- Same-Day Recovery: Pets undergoing routine surgeries will typically be released on the same day as their procedure.
- Discharge: At your discharge appointment, we will explain post-surgical care in detail and review all prescribed medications.
Our team at Caring Hands Animal Hospital approaches every pet's surgical needs with kindness and professionalism. Discover more about our new, discounted spay and neuter packages by clicking here.
Laser Surgery Options
We are pleased to offer the option of a modern surgical laser, which can replace a traditional surgical blade in most procedures. The advantages of using a surgical laser include:
- Minimized Pain: The laser seals nerve endings as it cuts, leading to a more comfortable post-operative recovery.
- Decreased Bleeding: The laser cauterizes small blood vessels during the procedure, reducing blood loss.
- Reduced Swelling: Because the laser operates without physical contact and does not crush tissues, incisions are made with an invisible beam, resulting in significantly less swelling.
