Saving Lives With Cutting-Edge Imaging

At Caring Hands, we utilize state-of-the-art radiology and ultrasound as vital diagnostic tools to enhance the level of care we provide. These technologies allow us to see beneath the surface, identifying health concerns quickly and accurately.

X-ray (radiology) is a primary tool for imaging bones, internal organs, and soft tissue structures. While X-rays show the dimensions, form, and placement of organs, ultrasound provides a detailed view of the organs' internal architecture. For the most thorough evaluation of a medical issue, we often recommend combining both digital X-rays and ultrasound to get a complete picture of your pet's health.

Comprehensive Diagnostic Options for Pets

Our facility is equipped with advanced imaging technology designed to facilitate swift identification of medical conditions, allowing us to commence the appropriate treatment immediately.

Ultrasound (Sonography)

Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time, two-dimensional images of your pet's internal organs. This non-invasive and painless procedure is well-tolerated by most pets and is invaluable for examining:
  • The Heart: Assessing valve function and chamber size.
  • Abdominal Organs: Detailed views of the liver, gallbladder, spleen, kidneys, pancreas, and bladder.
  • Pregnancy: Safe monitoring of fetal development.
What to expect during an ultrasound:
  • Preparation: To ensure clear imaging, a small patch of hair on the abdomen may be clipped.
  • The Process: A soothing gel is applied, and a probe is moved across the area to capture images.
  • Comfort: Most pets lie comfortably on a soft blanket. Anesthesia is rarely required, though a mild sedative may be used for very anxious animals.
  • Results: Because the imaging is real-time, initial results are often available immediately. If a specialist review is needed, a final report from a veterinary radiologist is typically ready within a few days.

Digital Radiology

Radiology has advanced significantly in recent years. Caring Hands is proud to provide cutting-edge digital radiology, which offers several distinct advantages over traditional film X-rays:
  • Superior Clarity: Enhanced image manipulation reduces the need for repeat exposures.
  • Increased Safety: Significantly reduced radiation exposure for both pets and our veterinary team.
  • Speed: Shorter procedure times mean less stress for your pet and faster diagnostic results.
  • Seamless Sharing: High-quality digital files can be promptly emailed to specialists or provided to you for your records.
  • Eco-Friendly: Our digital system eliminates the need for hazardous processing chemicals and film waste.
