Each week in June, we will spotlight a cat that is available for adoption through Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA). Visit their website for more information – www.foha.org.
Tell us about yourself!
I’m Lanie, and I’m a little over 1 year old. I’m a spayed female kitty, which means no kittens for me! I’m just a kitten myself! I’m mostly all black, and my ear has been tipped (which means the end of one of my ears has been cut off when I was at the community cat spay/neuter clinic). Don’t worry – it didn’t hurt. I went to that clinic as a homeless kitty because there’s a nice man who was helping all of us community cats. Then I went to the King George animal shelter so they could try to find me a home, and from King George all the way here to FOHA. When I first arrived, I wasn’t too keen on being petted, but now I love pets almost as much as I love to play!!
What’s your favorite place in the entire world?
Wherever I get to play with fun kitties and be pet by lovely people.
What’s on your bucket list?
To meet the little girl named Lanie after whom I’m named – she is the niece of one of the FOHA volunteers.
Describe a purr-fect Saturday.
Playing Jitterbug on the iPad, chasing the nanobug and red laser light dot, snuggling with kitty friends, receiving pets, and when I’ve done all of those things, doing them it all over again!
What’s your favorite movie and why?
“Pretty Woman” because I’ve been told it’s about me. I’ve not seen it, but if it’s about me, it must be fabulous.
Do you have any nick names?
Name one pet (human?) peeve.
People who think black cats are bad luck … or who think that because my ear has been tipped that I’m not destined to be a family cat.
If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Chicken … or lasagna. I’ve not had lasagna before, but rumor has it a cat named Garfield thinks it’s great. Garfield is orange, like my friend Fred (another kitty at FOHA who came with me from the same community in King George’s county). Can I try lasagna first before picking just one?
