Amy Dillon, DVM Medical Director of Caring Hands Animal Hospital of Centreville
Dr. Dillon, Medical Director, was raised in Oakton, VA and graduated from James Madison High School in Vienna. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at Cornell University, and then her DVM degree at Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Dillon worked and lived in upstate New York from 1998 to 2003, and joined the Caring Hands team in December 2003 when she and her husband relocated to Centreville. They currently share their house with two young children, two cats, and one recently adopted rescue dog. Dr. Dillon’s veterinary interests are in senior pet medicine, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and wound healing. In her spare time, Dr. Dillon enjoys many hobbies, including wine tasting, scrapbooking, and hiking.
Megan Clendenin, DVM
Dr. Clendenin, associate veterinarian, graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine after completing her undergraduate degree at Wake Forest University. Having grown up in Northern Virginia, she is excited to be back in the area. Her veterinary interests include surgery, imaging, and dermatology. Outside of work she enjoys reading, cooking, and wine tasting, and spending time being outdoors and traveling. She and her fiancé currently share their home with a lab mix named Callie and two cats, Mulligan, and Nancy who was found and brought to the hospital by a good samaritan one Christmas Eve. She came home with Dr. Clendenin to recover after surgery to amputate an injured leg and ended up joining the family!
Jennifer Ledesma, DVM
Dr. Ledesma, associate veterinarian, graduated from Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She grew up in Huntington Beach, CA and received her undergraduate degree in Biology from California State University, Fullerton. Her veterinary interests include internal medicine, preventative medicine, and ultrasound. Dr. Ledesma’s interests outside of work include running, hiking, reading, and watching movies. Dr. Ledesma is a California girl at heart but is enjoying all that Northern Virginia has to offer. She currently lives in Clifton with her fiancé and Golden Retriever named Hero.
Liz Vander Vennet, DVM
Dr. Vander Vennet, associate veterinarian, was born and raised in the Midwest where she completed a bachelor’s degree in biology at Eureka College, the alma mater of Ronald Reagan. She graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine and is excited to be practicing in Northern Virginia. Her veterinary interests include dermatology, ophthalmology, preventative medicine, and dentistry. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, and drinking a good cup of coffee. She currently resides in Reston with her husband, daughter, and two cats, Adelaide and Nora.
Arzhang Ashkan, DVM
Dr. Ashkan, associate veterinarian, graduated from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. He moved to the United States from Iran in 2003, and graduated from Potomac Falls High School in Virginia. Following high school he obtained his Associate of Science from NOVA Community College, and continued his undergraduate education in biological sciences and doctorate of veterinary medicine program at Virginia Tech. Dr. Ashkan is newly married to a fellow Hokie and lives with their two cats and (her) chinchilla. He speaks fluent Farsi and in his free time, he enjoys roasting and tasting coffee, playing racquetball, and hiking the beautiful trails of Virginia. His areas of interest are dermatology and endocrinology.
